Stress creates hormonal imbalances that affect your energy and whole body functioning. This includes the thyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas, and every other endocrine gland in the body.
• Digestive Wellness
Our digestive system is where we get all our nutrients for every aspect of health. Leaky gut, lactose and other food intolerances, and imbalanced gut flora are often the cause of weight gain, fatigue, inflammation, allergies and many digestive disorders such as IBS and bloating.
• Detoxification
Internal toxins build up when our bodies are unable to do its job of clearing out the by-products of metabolism, drugs, alcohol, and the many environmental toxins we are all exposed to daily. This interferes with normal function and eventually creates illness.
Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is an approach to healing that combines the best elements of both “conventional” and “alternative” medicine. Functional medicine is:
Science-based. It addresses symptoms by focusing on the underlying cause of the problem, which leads to profound and longer-lasting results.
Holistic. It sees the body as an interconnected whole that is in dynamic relationship to its environment and recognizes the importance of these connections in health and disease.
Patient-centered. It treats the patient, not the disease. Treatments are individualized based on your unique needs.
Functional medicine uses targeted lab tests to identify the root causes of your symptoms. You will then receive a comprehensive plan for healing through nutrition and lifestyle.
Are you suffering from any of the following symptoms?
Fatigue
Bloating, Heartburn, Constipation, IBS
Weight Gain
Depression or Anxiety
Pain and Inflammation
Seasonal Allergies
Chronic Sinusitis
Insomnia
Female Hormonal Issues including Infertility, Menopause, Thyroid Imbalance, PCOS, Fibroids, and more…
Functional medicine identifies and corrects the underlying imbalances creating these conditions.
In conventional medicine these types of issues will be treated, if at all, with pharmaceutical medications. These drugs suppress the symptoms without treating the root cause, and often come with side effects. This means that your body continues to function poorly and you will ultimately end up with more problems – requiring more medications.
Identify the causes of your symptoms To break the cycle of drug-based treatment that doesn’t heal, the Functional Medicine approach involves balancing the three body systems: Hormonal, Digestive, and Detoxification.
Your hormonal system produces your sex and stress hormones.
Your digestive system processes food for nourishing the body.
Your detoxification system protects you from toxicity and free radicals, both from your diet and your environment.
Using targeted lab testing that you can do from the privacy of your own home for each of these systems, we can assess how each system is working. With this information, we then design an individualized program to rebalance and heal your body.
Most people know that poor diet, inadequate sleep, lack of exercise, and mismanagement of physical, mental and emotional stress contribute to illness and below-optimal functioning. What you may not know is what steps you can take to improve your health.
Especially with new fad diets and trends popping up all the time, knowing what specific changes to make and how to make those changes isn’t always so easy. Perhaps you’ve tried a few of them already, without getting the desired results.
No one size fits all when it comes to diet and lifestyle. Based on clinical science that tests your body systems, we will guide you to an individualized program that works for you.
Consultations may be done in-person or over the phone.
How does a consultation work? During your initial consultation we will review your personal and family health history and make recommendations for lab tests that are appropriate for your specific health issues.
Once your lab work has been completed, your test results will be explained to you in a follow up consultation. We will also create an individualized health program for you which will include one or more of the following: dietary changes, nutritional supplements, along with exercise, lifestyle and stress management recommendations.
Subsequent consultations are scheduled to monitor your progress and to modify your program.
What do I need to do to get started?
To schedule a consultation, call or email to set up a time. Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive your intake form which you can complete electronically through a HIPAA-compliant link.
What happens next?
Once we have your lab results we schedule a follow consultation to review them with you and to provide you with an individualized program of recommendations for diet, lifestyle and supplements.
Your recommended supplements will be shipped directly to your home.
